09-001 Sunday January 4th at 7:58 am Engine 15 was dispatched to 469 Whetstone River Road MA with First Consolidated Fire for a working house fire. Engine 15 arrived on the scene at 8:15 am and assisted with extinguishment until 10:43 when they were released. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 11:01 am.

 

09-002 Monday January 5th at 6:23 am Station 19 was dispatched to the area of 2217 US 95 for heavy smoke in the area. Lieutenant 107 was heading to work driving through the area and could not find anything. Station 19 was cancelled at 6:33 am. No equipment responded from the station.

 

09-003 Tuesday January 6th at 9:35 am Brush 12 responded to assist Squad 1 with a patient at 254 Bank Street. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 9:46 am.

 

09-004 Tuesday January 6th at 8:17 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched to an MVC on road 126 for a car on its side and the driver could not get out of the vehicle. The roads were extremely icy and hazardous. Rescue 11 responded very slow on road 126 and arrived on the scene at 8:33 pm. Firefighters requested that the victim, since she was not injured, turn the power on the vehicle, open the sun roof and exit the vehicle that way. She complied and was removed from the vehicle. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 8:40 pm arriving in quarters at 8:57 pm. Firefighters cleaned the unit and finished at 9:15 pm.

 

09-005 Wednesday January 7th at 3:25 pm Rescue 11 responded to an MVC rollover on State Route 42 South. Firefighters were able to remove the victim from the vehicle by cutting the cloth roof to access the injured person. Firefighters returned to quarters at 3:47 pm and completed cleaning the unit at 4:20 pm.

 

09-006 Saturday January 10th at 4:35 pm Rescue 11 responses to 2069 State Route 95 West for an MVC car on its top. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 4:47 pm and shut off the car ignition and checked for any leaks. With nothing found Rescue 11 retuned to quarters at 4:52 pm arriving at 5:05 pm. After washing the unit firefighters left the station at 5:30 pm.

 

09-007 Saturday January 10th at 6:17 pm Rescue 11 responded to I-71 mm 155 ½ for a reported MVC with a car on its side. Medic 9 arrived on the scene at 6:30 pm and advised that the vehicle was not on its side, it was on its wheels and that the car just pulled off the highway with a problem. They were waiting for a tow truck. All units were cancelled at 6:32 pm. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 6:43 pm. After equipment was cleaned firefighters left the station at 7:15 pm.

 

09-008 Sunday January 11th at 9:04 am Station 19 was dispatched for black smoke coming from a mobile home at 830 Westview Drive. Medic 9 and Squad 1 arrived on the scene at 9:09 am and advised that the smoke was coming form the chimney. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 9:12 am and noted the smoke, checked out the furnace and found that it was burning improperly and need attention. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 9:20 am and firefighters left the station at 10:00 am.

 

09-009 Wednesday January 14th at 3:13 am Tanker 14 and Engine 15 were dispatched to 2048 C R 155 MA to Station 310 (Ashley) for water supply and RIT crew operations. After the fire was contained the RIT crew assisted with overhaul until they were released at 5:58 am. Engine 15 and Tanker 14 returned to quarters at 6:19 am. Firefighters cleaned all equipment and left the station at 7:30 am.

 

09-010 Wednesday January 14th at 1:56 pm Rescue 11 responded to a reported MVC between a pick-up truck and a semi. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 2:15 pm due to the heavy snow and slippery roads. After checking the scene found that it was a non-injury MVC. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 2:16 pm arriving at 2:46 pm. Firefighters washed the unit and were complete at 5:05 pm.

 

09-011 Wednesday January 14th at 11:55 pm Rescue 11 responded to an MVC with a car in the ditch with 2 occupants inside. Unit 1907 lives in the area and arrived on the scene at 12:06 am advising that this was a non injury crash and the vehicle was on its wheels. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 12:09 am and waited for the squad from Cardington to arrive. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 12:27 am.

 

09-012 Thursday January 15th at 6:07 am Station 19 was dispatched to 729 Baker Street for a strong odor of natural gas. Chief 101 responded direct from home to the area. It was determined that the odor was coming form the Columbia Gas pipeline station beside Drive Thru 95. City PD advised their dispatcher to contact Columbia Gas. Chief 101 left the area at 6:24 am.

 

09-013 Thursday January 15th at 11:57 am Station 19 was dispatched to a possible house fire at 218 Hillside Street in Edison. Rescue 11 responded at 11:58 am, Tower 18 responded at 12:04 am. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 12:03 pm to find the fire had calmed down and the smoke in the house was clear. Firefighters checked the chimney, house walls and the attic for any possible fire extension. Firefighters found everything clear and declared a situation contained at 12:18 pm. Rescue 11 and Tower 18 returned to quarters at 12:45 pm.

 

09-014 Thursday January 15th at 4:05 pm Brush 12 was dispatched to assist Squad 1 and Medic 9 for deep snow at a residence on State Route 95. Firefighters assisted with carrying the patient from the house to the squad in deep snow. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 5:00 pm.

 

09-015 Thursday January 15th at 5:36 pm Tanker 14 was dispatched MA with Station 59 for a chimney fire at 6934 Road 92. Tanker 14 responded at 5:40 pm and was cancelled at 5:50 pm returning to quarters at 6:05 pm. After washing the unit firefighters left at 6:45 pm.

 

09-016 Friday January 16th at 11:26 pm Station 19, Station 49 and Station 100 were dispatched to a possible house fire at 6245 Road 28. Rescue 11 responded from Mt. Gilead at 11:32 pm, Tanker 45 from Iberia, Tanker 124 from Caledonia, Engine 15 and Tanker 14 from Mt. Gilead also responded. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 11:39 pm, checked out the situation. Chief 101 observed what looked like smoke coming from the eves. Upon checking further it was determined that it was steam not smoke caused by a broken water line inside the structure. All MA was released at 11:45 pm. All equipment was released at 11:59 pm and returned to quarters at 12:12 pm.

 

09-017 Sunday January 18th at 4:00 pm Station 19, Station 29 and Station 59 were dispatched to water flow alarm at 841 Marion Road, Woodside Village. Chief 101 responded direct to the scene arriving at 4:02 pm. Chief 101 gained access into the mechanical room and determined that the air on top of the sprinkler system had dropped and released the control valve. The administrator was called and the scene was turned over to him at 4:27 pm. Rescue 11 responded non-emergency to the scene at 4:07 pm and assisted with the search for the problem. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 4:25 pm. Firefighters cleaned the unit and left the station at 5:00 pm.

09-018 Tuesday January 20th at 2:34 pm Brush 12 was dispatched to assist Squad 1 with a patient at 720 North Main Street. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 2:47 pm.

 

09-019 Tuesday January 20th at 4:38 pm Station 19 was dispatched to an Elevator Emergency at Gilead Friends Church at 3613 Road 115. Squad 1 responded to the scene and cancelled Rescue 11 at 4:45 pm. Rescue 11 went in route at 4:43 pm and returned to quarters at 4:45 pm.

 

09-020 Wednesday January 21st at 10:16 am Station 19 was dispatched to 4901 State Route 95 East for an activated fire alarm. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 10:24 am and was advised that there was spray-painting being one in the basement and that had set off the alarm. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 10:28 am.

 

09-021 Wednesday January 21st at 1:14 pm Station 19 was dispatched to a general fire alarm at 377 South Delaware Street. Rescue 11 arrived on the scene at 1:18 pm. Communell Fire alarm service personnel met us and noted the he had just put the system back on line. He thought that the system should be off line so he did not call. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 1:35 pm.

 

09-022 Sunday January 25th at 11:52 am a working house fire was reported at 446 Lee Street. Two firefighters in the area drove direct to the scene and reported flames coming from the backside of the house in the garage area with heavy smoke. Rescue 11 responded at 11:59 am arriving on the scene at 12:00 noon. Firefighters attacked the fire and brought it under control with three 1 ¾” pre-connected fire lines. Engine 15, Brush 12 and 17 all responded with Engine 23 and Rescue 21 responding from Cardington. Engine 23’s crew was the RIT crew. This crew of firefighters is responsible for rescuing any firefighters that become trapped or disabled in the fire. The fire had entered the attic area and traveled the length of the house. The house has been severely damaged from the fire. The home was insured, however the contents were not. The loss is estimated at over $240,000 for the house and content. The fire is believed to have started in the garage area. The cause is still under investigation. The fire was declared under control at 12:53 pm and extinguished at 3:05 pm. All equipment returned to quarters at 3:11 pm and all equipment cleaned up at 5:00 pm.

 

09-023 Tuesday January 27th at 8:47 am a working house fire was reported at 108 Short Line Street in Edison. Rescue 11 responded at 8:48 am and arrived on the scene at 8:51 am. Firefighters attacked the fire with 2 – 1 ¾” pre-connected attack lines into the first floor front door. The fire had by this time extended into all rooms on the first floor and up the open stairway to the second floor. Heavy smoke was coming from the eves on both the first and second floor. Engine 23 responded to the scene at 9:00 am for the RIT crew. Engine 23 was released at 10:53 am after assisting with overhauling of the fire. Firefighters worked until 12:00 noon extinguishing the fire. All equipment returned to quarters at 12:08 pm with clean up lasting until 2:30 pm.

 

09-024 Tuesday January 27th at 3:36 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched MA with Station 100 (Caledonia) for an MVC rollover with entrapment and fire. Rescue 11 responded at 3:36 pm and was cancelled at 3:40 pm returning to quarters at 3:48 pm.

 

09-025 Wednesday January 28th at 3:55 pm Rescue 11 was dispatched to I-71 mm 154 for a van rollover in the median strip. Rescue 11 responded at 3:57 pm and arrived on the scene at 4:09 pm. Firefighters investigated the scene, disconnected the batteries and advised the OSP officer of the cargo onboard. Rescue11 went in service at 4:16 pm and returned to the station at 4:37 pm. Firefighters cleaned the unit and left the station at 5:00 pm.

 

09-026 Friday January 30th at 9:11 pm Brush 12 was dispatched to assist Squad 1 due to heavy snow in private driveways. Brush 12 was cancelled at 9:20 pm since the drive was passable. Brush 12 returned to quarters at 9:25 pm.
