08-118 Wednesday April 2nd at 9:11 am Rescue 11 responded to 54 South Main Street for a car and semi accident. Firefighters assisted the City Police with directing traffic until the vehicles could be moved out of the street. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 9:30 am.

 

08-119 Wednesday April 2nd at 5:46 pm Station 19 was dispatched to 5008 road 237 for a fire alarm. The owner called dispatch and advised that it was a false alarm. All equipment was cancelled at 5:50 pm. No units responded.

 

08-120 Thursday April 3rd at 7:25 pm Rescue 11 responded MA with Station 59 for an MVC rollover on road 61. Chief 501 arrived on the scene and after Engine 50 arrived on the scene cancelled Rescue 11. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 7:46 pm.

 

08-121 Friday April 4th at 8:42 am Station 29 and 19 were dispatched to road 155 for a fire alarm. The homeowner called, it was a false alarm. No units responded.

08-122 Friday April 4th at 8:25 pm Station 19 was requested for assistance with a full code on road 105. All units were cancelled at 8:29 pm.

 

08-123 Saturday April 5th at 11:35 pm Engine 15, Tanker 14, Rescue 11, Engine 25, Tanker 124, Medic 9 and Squad 104 were dispatched to a reported possible house fire at 2051 St Rt 95. When units arrived on the scene it was determined that there was a chimney fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and checked the roof, attic and walls for any possible fire extension. Firefighters worked on the roof to be sure there was no extension. All units were released form the scene at 1:05 am. After clean up of the equipment all firefighters left the station at 1:30 am.

 

08-124 Sunday April 6th at 8:28 pm Engine 15, Engine 10, Tower 18 and Rescue 11 responded to a reported basement fire with smoke coming from the back of the residence. When Engine 15 arrived on the scene, the occupant advised that the fire was a clothes dryer in the basement. Access to the basement through the garage door was blocked due to the door being locked. Firefighters made entry through the back door, down the basement steps. The flames were coming out of the vent holes in the dryer cabinet. Fire firefighters carried the dryer out the garage door to the back yard where it was extinguished. The house was aired out to remove the smoke with a positive pressure fan. There was no damage to the structure, only to the dryer. Estimated loss was $300 to the dryer. All units returned to quarters at 9:07 pm. All firefighters left the station at 9:25 after cleanup of equipment.

 

08-125 Monday April 7th at 4:56 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded to a pickup truck fire with a load of new furniture valued at $1500. The fire was contained to the bed area where three aluminum toolboxes were damaged by the fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and contained it to the bed area. The total loss was estimated at approximately $3000. The fire was declared out at 5:22 and equipment returned to quarters at 5:30 pm.

 

08-126 Wednesday April 9th at 4:02 pm Engine 15 responded MA with Medic 1 for a possible non-breather at the Sacred Hearts Church on U S 42 South. After Medic 1 arrived on the scene Engine 15 was cancelled and returned to quarters at 4:09 pm.

 

08-127 Thursday April 10th at 5:54 am Brush 12 with Chief 101 and (2) firefighters responded MA to Station 59 for a fuel leak on I-71 mm 158. Brush 12 was cancelled at 6:14 am and returned to quarters at 6:45 am.

 

08-128 Friday April 11th at 9:11 pm Engine 15 responded to 85 South Rich Street for a reported gas odor. Firefighters investigated and found the propane gas grill valves were on and the odor was coming form the grill. The valves were shut off and the odor disappeared. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:45 pm.

 

08-129 Saturday April 12th at 7:42 pm Station 19, 29 and 59 were dispatched to smoke coming from 600 Douglas Street apartment B-5. Chief 101 responded direct to the scene and found that the tenant’s granddaughter had fixed an egg and had left the pan on with the fire on. No damage to the apartment. Brush Truck 12 responded to the scene for the report. Chief 101 cancelled all mutual aid equipment at 7:50 pm and released Station 19 equipment at 7:54 pm.

 

08-130 Sunday April 13th at 7:08 am Station 19 was dispatched to 407 South Delaware Street to assist squad 1 with moving a patient from the small apartment. All members left the scene at 7:35 am.

 

08-131 Sunday April 13th at 3:42 pm Station 19 firefighters were dispatched to McDonalds for an employee stuck in a room. Firefighters were responding in their personal vehicles when the employee was released from the room. All members returned home at 3:45 pm.

 

08-132 Monday April 14th at 11:23 am Engine 15 responded MA with Squad 1 and Medic 9 to West High Street to assist with a patient on the second floor with a winding and steep stairway. A firefighter drove Medic 9’s vehicle to MCH and Engine 15 followed. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 12:00 pm.

 

08-133 Tuesday April 15th at 11:17 am Rescue 11 responded to road 24 for an MVC car into a tree. Rescue 11, Squad 1 and Medic 9 arrived on the scene at 11:23 am finding the person out of the vehicle being attended to by the resident of the property where the MVC occurred. Firefighters had to disconnect the car battery to shut the car horn off. Rescue 11 remained on the scene until OSP arrived since the vehicle was not very visible from the roadway, returning to quarters at 11:31 am.

 

08-134 Wednesday April 16th at 12:30 am Brush Truck 12 responded to 110 E. Union Street in Edison for an illegal burn. Someone had thrown old carpet, copper wire, and trash in the burn ring which is only to be used for a camp fire and preparing food. The fire was extinguished and Brush 12 returned to quarters at 1:30 am. Later Wednesday the owner was given a copy of the Ohio EPA burning regulations and advised he could not burn until another permit was obtained.

 

08-135 Wednesday April 16th at 8:59 am Engine 15 responded MA to the Duke Station Truck Stop at I-71 and St Rt 95 for a semi truck on fire. Upon arrival on the scene the operator had the fire out. Upon investigation the electric wire on the alternator was melted causing the fire. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:45 am.

 

08-136 Friday April 18th at 1:07 pm Brush 12, Brush 17, Engine 10, Tanker 14, Tanker 24, Tanker 44 and Engine 15 responded to 3033 road 131 for a reported grass fire with a barn exposure. Units arrived on the scene at 1:13 pm cutting the fire off close to the barn and then extinguishing the fire. Members noticed a smoke curl coming from the eve of the barn and found a small fire that was quickly extinguished with water cans. Tanker 14 and 24 were cancelled enroute and all other equipment returned to quarters at 2:30 pm. The fire started from an illegal burn at the back of the property and spread through the grass to the barn. OHIO EPA regulations prohibit burning anything manufactured from petroleum products such as plastic, carpet, and the like also the burning of anything such as food scraps pr the containers they were packaged in. The illegal burn was extinguished also.

 

08-137 Friday April 18th at 8:31 pm firefighters were dispatched to 600 Douglas Street to assist the squad with a patient being moved from the home to he squad. Members left the scene at 9.03 pm.

 

08-138 Saturday April 19th at 8:19 pm Station 19 was dispatched to an MVC on I-71 at the 150 mm. Before units could respond all responders were cancelled at 8:21 pm.

 

08-139 Sunday April 20th at 9:52 pm Engine 15 was dispatched MA with St 39 for a vehicle fire on I-71 mm 147. Engine 15 was cancelled at the 149 mm and returned to quarters at 10:20 pm.

 

08-140 Monday April 21st at 7:48 am for an MVC on I-71 at the 157 mm for a car into the bridge. Rescue 11 responded at 7:53 am and arrived on the scene at 8:07 am. The driver of the vehicle was out of the vehicle so the firefighters secured the vehicle and placed absorbent on the transmission fluid and disconnected the battery. Rescue 11 returned to quarters at 8:45 am.

 

08-141 Monday April 21st at 9:22 am Engine 15 responded to an MVC at 152 Easy High Street. Engine 15 was cancelled at 9:25 am due this being a non-injury accident and little damage to the vehicles. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9;28 am.

 

08-142 Monday April 21st at 9:50 pm Rescue 11 and Engine 15 responded 4741 Road 20 for a reported MVC with a car and a deer. Units arrived on the scene at 10:01 pm and assisted with the patient until the squad arrived on the scene. Firefighters disconnected the battery to the vehicle and returned to quarters at 10:19 pm.

 

08-143 Tuesday April 22nd at 6:55 pm Brush 12, Brush 17, Engine 10 and Tanker 14 responded to the area of 4993 US 42 South to a reported ½ acre grass fire. Units responded to the old railroad tracks where we found a small fire by the cemetery. Nothing else found. Units returned to quarters at 7:30 pm.

08-144 Tuesday April 23rd at 9:11 am Rescue 11 responded MA with Station 59 to an MVC on I-71 at mile marker 158. Units searched the freeway into Richland County and found nothing. All units cancelled at 9:31 am returning to quarters at 9:45 am.

 

08-145 Wednesday April 23rd at 12:57 pm Engine 15 and Tanker 14 responded MA with Station 59 to 7514 S R 19 for a reported barn fire. Fire was extinguished at 1:13 pm and Engine 15 and Tanker 14 returned to quarters at 2:45 pm.

 

08-146 Friday April 25th at 6:57 pm Brush 12 and Tanker 14 responded to Road 76 for a reported illegal burn. Firefighters determined that the fire was an illegal burn and extinguished the fire. All companies returned to quarters at 8:30 pm.

 

08-147 Saturday April 26th at 8:40 pm Engine 15 responded to Duds-N-Suds for a fire in a washer. Upon arrival it was determined that the drive belt in the washer was the problem. Engine 15 returned to quarters at 9:00 pm.
